Luis R. Reyes
Pastor Louie grew up on the Southside of Waukegan, IL. Growing up on the very streets we service children in today, Pastor Louie endured a lot of neglect and poverty as a child. By the time he was 18 years old he was enlisted in the U.S. Army, ready to serve his country and serve God.
Now 19 years old and living in Colorado Springs,Co., God gave Pastor Louie a dream that he would take a mobile puppet ministry out into streets and preach the gospel to children in the types of areas that he grew up in. On July 12th, 1997, they started Sidewalk Sunday School out in the streets of Waukegan. Within weeks of visiting the neighborhoods and inviting children, 30 children attended the first site, and they grew rapidly after that!
Today, through great sacrifice and tears, Sidewalk Sunday School is a vibrant, strong and life-changing outreach serving close to 2,000 children each week in over 11 different cities and at-risk communities. Pastor Louie’s dream is realized, as young adults that grew up attending Sidewalk Sunday School, are now serving on staff and as interns reaching out into the same communities where they were reached!
